About

In my career, I have worked for four startups, three large corporations, and one government-funded company. I have also started two companies of my own, as well as being with one of the startups from pre-business plan days.

In the course of my career, I done everything from buying office supplies to meeting Dick Cheney (back when he ran Halliburton, not as Vice President). I have raised venture capital, negotiated leases, bought furniture at auction, purchased general liability, product liability, E&O, and umbrella insurance. I’ve been through numerous audits, both by accounting firms and the General Accounting Office. I’ve won SBIRs and ATP grants. I’ve acted as CEO, CFO, COO, Director of Human Resources, and VP of IT, often all at the same time.

Using my experience as an equities analyst and my Chartered Financial Analyst education, I have often acted as the investment and personal finance guru for clients’ management and employees, acting not only as a CFO for their companies, but as a CFO for their personal lives. My consulting company website is Worrall Consulting, LLC.

I am now a consultant for small and medium businesses and individuals, primarily in the finance arena, and I watch company after company discover each of these things on their own as if each one was the first ever to face such challenges. I also review business plans for government funding agencies including the SBIR program with the National Science Foundation.

This site is meant to share with you some of the tips and nuggets of information that I have learned over time. Additionally, I have included some recommendations of products and services I have used over the past few years that have made my life a little easier. As I have spent a majority of career days in Maryland, some of the recommendations will only be useful to folks in Maryland or the surrounding region. However, hopefully, most of the advice will be universal.

Remember, your finances are your business.
